Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup margarine
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange rind
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2/3 cup orange juice
  • 8 slices white bread

Instructions

  • Place margarine on cookie sheet and melt in 400° oven.
  • Mix next 3 ingredients and sprinkle evenly over butter. Mix eggs and orange juice and dip bread, soaking well. Arrange in pan and spoon any remaining egg mixture over bread.
  • Bake in hot oven, 400°, about 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Let stand 1 minute then lift out, sugar side up onto hot platter.
  • Serve plain or with maple syrup.
