Ingredients
Banana Bread with Chocolate Chips
- 2 cups flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 cup mashed bananas (3 small or 2 medium usually)
- 1 cup chocolate morsels
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350° and lightly grease and flour a 9X5-inch loaf pan.
- In a small bowl blend the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt, set aside.
- Mix sugar, eggs, shortening and vanilla together until creamy, add bananas and blend well. Blend dry ingredients into the banana mixture until combined. Stir in chocolate morsels.
- Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and bake for 55 to 60 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool 10 minutes and remove from pan and finish cooling on wire rack.
