8-ounce package shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 cup butter, melted
Optional: 1 tablespoon water
Preheat oven to 375°F
In a large bowl, toss together cheese, flour, mustard and pepper; stir in butter. Knead until dough forms; add water if dough feels dry.
Divide into 2 balls. On a floured surface, roll out each ball 1/4-inch thick. Cut out with desired cookie cutters. Place on ungreased baking sheets.
Bake at 375° for 10 to 12 minutes, until lightly golden. Cool on a wire rack.
Makes about 3 dozen.
