  • 2 cups flour sifted
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 4 cups apples diced pared
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup cooking oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 1 cup walnuts chopped
  • confectioners' sugar for dusting


  • Preheat oven to 350 °F. Grease a 13x9x2-inch baking pan.
  • Sift together flour, baking soda, salt and cinnamon.
  • Combine apples and sugar in mixing bowl and mix well. Add oil, eggs, vanilla and walnuts and mix well. Stir in dry ingredients.
  • Turn batter into prepared pan and bake for 1 hour or until cake tests done. Cool in pan on rack. When still slightly warm, dust with confectioners' sugar.
