Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x5 inch loaf pans.
Combine flour, salt, baking soda, baking powder and nutmeg. Add sugar, mix well and add walnuts. Combine remaining ingredients and pour over the dry mixture. Stir quickly, just enough to blend. Pour into prepared loaf pan. Let stand 20 minutes, then bake for 1 hour at 350°.
If you do not have sour milk, add 1 teaspoon of vinegar to 1 cup milk.
