Orange Banana Smoothie

1 cup orange juice
1 small, ripe banana
1/4 cup instant non-fat milk powder
1/2 cup ice cubes
1/4 cup club soda

In blender, process orange juice, banana, milk powder and ice cubes until mixture is thick and ice cubes are crushed. Add club soda, stir and serve immediately.

Spiked Fruit Smootie

Also known as Spiked Strawberry Orange Coconut Smoothie

2 Pina Colada Frozen Fruti Bars
2 cups frozen strawberries (fresh also works)
1 cup orange juice
1/4 cup Bacardi Rum (adults only)
Whipped cream (optional)

Let popsicle bars sit on counter for about 5 minutes to soften. Remove bars from sticks. Place all ingredients in Blender and blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and top with whipped cream.

For a kid friendly version, just omit the rum.

Libbey Smoothie Set

Power Gold Smoothie

2 cups chopped or grated carrots
1 1/2 cups pineapple juice
1 cup fresh orange juice
3 tablespoons honey
1/2 cup vanilla yogurt
3-4 ice cubes

Place only chopped or grated carrots in blender and turn on HIGH. Through lid, slowly drizzle in about 2 to 3 tablespoons of the pineapple juice, allowing the carrots to be pureed until smooth.

Slowly pour in remaining juice with honey. Allow to blend until smooth and somewhat frothy; then with blender on HIGH, add ice cubes.

Blend until ice cubes are blended smooth. Stop blender, add yogurt, return lid and blend until thoroughly mixed.

Pour into chilled glasses and enjoy a great taste with power and energy.

Makes 4-10 oz. glasses.

Fruity Tofu Smoothie

1/3 cup apple juice
1/2 cup (4 oz.) soft tofu, drained
1 cup fresh or frozen berries
1 banana
4 oz. nonfat fruit-flavored yogurt
1 teaspoon honey
4 ice cubes

Place apple juice, yogurt, tofu, berries, banana, and honey in a blender. Cover and process until well blended.

While the blender is still running, drop ice cubes into the blender one at a time (through the hole in the lid) until smooth.

Pour the smoothies into tall glasses.

Serves: 2

Sunrise Smoothie

1 cup orange juice
1 cup plain fat-free yogurt
1 cup fresh or unsweetened frozen strawberries
2 medium bananas, peeled, cut up and frozen
1 teaspoon ground flax seed (optional)
6 to 8 ice cubes
Fresh strawberries (optional)

In a blender, combine juice, yogurt, 1 cup strawberries, bananas and flax seed, if you like. Cover; blend until pureed.

With blender running, add ice through feed tube, one cube at a time, until desired consistency. If you like, garnish with strawberries.

Serves 3 or 4.
