1/2 cup light or dark Karo corn syrup
1/2 cup finely chopped onions
1/2 cup ketchup
1/4 cup vinegar
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
In a saucepan, stir all ingredients together. Stir frequently, bring to a boil. Reduce heat and boil gently for 15 minutes to thicken.
Brush on meats turning often during the last 20 minutes of cooking time.
Makes about 2 cups.
Spicy – add 1 tablespoon chili powder and 1 clove minced garlic
Oriental – omit Worcestershire sauce and add 1/4 cup soy sauce and 1 teaspoon ginger
