(Bread Machine Recipe)
1/3 cup quick-cooking rolled oats
1/3 cup quick-cooking barley
1 1/4 cups water
2 tablespoons margarine or butter, cut up, or cooking oil
1 1/2 cups bread flour
3/4 cup whole wheat flour
1/3 cup cornmeal
1 tablespoon gluten flour
1 tablespoon sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast or bread machine yeast
Select the loaf size.
Spread the rolled oats and barley in a shallow baking pan. Bake in a 350 degree oven about 15 minutes or until light brown, stirring occasionally. Let cool.
Place the toasted oats and barley in a blender container. Cover and blend until the mixture is the consistency of flour.
Add the mixture and the remaining ingredients to the bread machine according to the manufacturer’s directions. If available, select whole grain cycle, or select the basic white bread cycle.
