Dorothy’s Sweet and Sour Chicken

2 lb chicken parts
8 oz pineapple chunks
1 cup chicken broth
2 tablespoons shortening
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/4 cup vinegar
2 teaspoons soy sauce
1 large onion
1 med. green pepper
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1/4 cup water

Drain pineapple,reserving syrup.

In skillet brown chicken in shortening. Pour off fat.

Add reserved syrup, broth, brown sugar,vinegar, soy sauce and garlic. Cover and cook over low heat 40 minutes. Add green pepper and pineapple cook 5 minutes. Combine cornstarch and water gradually stir into sauce.
