1 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
3 egg yolks
1 teaspoon vanilla or lemon extract
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
2 1/2 cups flour, divided
Preheat oven to 375°.
Cream butter and sugar thoroughly. Add well-beaten egg yolks and vanilla and almond extracts.
Mix in half the flour, then turn on a floured board and knead in the remaining half of the flour.
Roll out and cut with Christmas tree, star, snowman, etc. cookie cutters.
Place on greased baking sheet. and bake for 10 to 12 minutes (watch the cookies carefully).
Decorate with colored sugar, nuts and candied cherries.
