2 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 tablespoons shortening, chilled
1/2 cup milk
Stir dry ingredients together. Cut butter or shortening finely into dry ingredients. Add liquid slowly, stirring only until it forms a soft ball.
Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and toss until sparingly covered with flour. Knead lightly for a few minutes. Pat or roll out to 3/4″ thick.
Yields 8 to 12 biscuits. Bake at 450°F for 12 to 15 minutes until light golden brown.
